Sustainability is becoming more and more important in the fashion industry. One aspect that is often overlooked is packaging. Packaging has a significant impact on the environment - from the materials used to create the packaging to the waste generated when it is disposed of.

We get to the bottom of the concept of sustainable packaging in the fashion industry and show you why we consciously chose our Prinz Berlin packaging.

> WHAT DOES SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING ACTUALLY MEAN?

Sustainable packaging is packaging that has as little impact on the environment as possible. This includes, on the one hand, using materials that are renewable, reusable or recyclable, as well as being light and generating as little waste as possible. Sustainable packaging also takes into account the entire life cycle of the product, from the sourcing of the materials to the disposal of the packaging. There are many options today, from biodegradable packaging to reusable bags and boxes. On the other hand, recycled materials such as paper and plastic are also used to make the packaging sustainable.

> WHY IS SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING SO IMPORTANT TO US?

The fashion industry is known for its high levels of waste and pollution, and packaging is a major contributor to this problem. In 2021, the fashion industry produced an estimated 92 million tonnes of waste, much of which ended up in packaging. Most are made from non-renewable resources like plastic and paper, which contribute to deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and other environmental problems. Sustainable packaging can reduce this waste and minimize the industry's impact on the environment.

It is precisely for these reasons that we made a conscious decision to make a contribution to environmentally conscious and sustainable packaging. Our wonderful Prinz Berlin packaging, made exclusively from fully recyclable paper, is perfect as a gift box or for storing small items.

> WHAT MATERIAL IS THE PRINZ BERLIN PACKAGING MADE OF AND HOW IS IT MANUFACTURED?

Our Prinz Berlin boxes are made from brown cardboard that is FSC and PEFC certified and fully recyclable. The boxes themselves are made in Germany in a small factory and printed with our Prinz Berlin logo. This is how we manage to shorten long and unnecessary transport routes. After completion, the Prinz Berlin boxes are shipped unfolded and then individually and lovingly folded by us.
