Cashmere Care Tips. Treat it well.

Cashmere is one of the most durable, sustainable, and long-lasting natural fibers. Our Little Prinz and Prinz Hat are made out of the softest cashmere and by hand! They not only give you a soft second skin sensation and the feeling of floating on a cloud, but also many years of joy if you treat them with love and care. Here are our top tips and tricks on how to treat your favorite Prinz companions, to make them last a lifetime. Enjoy!

Let the air do its magic.
Our Prinz cashmere doesn't have to be washed every single time after wearing it. Leave it outside in a clean and fresh space and let it rest overnight, the air will do its magic. Odours will disappear, and the fine hair will repair. In case you can't wait overnight, put it in a bag in the freezer for one to two hours and then gently steam it. You can also use a gentle lavender mist or plat-based spray to refresh it. After that, it will be soft, like new!

Only wash when absolutely necessary.
If you really feel like your Prinz companion needs a wash to be fresh and clean again, the best way is to do it by hand. Use cold water and let it soak for about 20min in a mild detergent. It is important to avoid scrubbing and any kinds of chemicals, as cashmere is a natural and delicate fiber. If you are going to put them in the machine, make sure to place it in a laundry bag, use cold water and a mild detergent and set it to the delicate or wool cycle (mx. 400 spins), to protect it against friction.

Dry it when it gets wet.
After a stroll on a rainy or snowy day or after washing it, never use a dryer for your Prinz cashmere! Instead, press a towel against it to soak up excess water and then place it somewhere clean and flat to let it dry. It might take a while until it is completely dry, depending on the humidity of the environment. Be patient and avoid using heat!

Regular grooming makes it last.
After waring your favorite Prinz products for a while, you will notice little fuzz balls. Don't panic - it's natural! The little fuzz, also called pilling, is totally normal on natural fibers and is an indication for the quality and purity of the fabric. It occurs, especially when the products are brand new. To keep your cashmere accessoires neat and clean, we recommend the following: Remove the small knots simply by hand by plucking them out and use our Prinz Berlin cashmere comb to give your companion a new shine!
