Silk

Silk is one of the oldest and most luxurious natural fibers produced by the silkworm. It possesses a timeless allure and is completely biodegradable, leading to minimal environmental impact. The production of silk requires precision and craftsmanship. Silkworms weave their fine, long threads into a cocoon.

Prinz Berlin sources its silk from the Como region in Northern Italy, where it is spun, woven, and dyed. Compared to conventional cotton or synthetic processing, silk production uses minimal amounts of pesticides and fertilizers, resulting in significantly lesser environmental impact. The result is a material of exceptional beauty and quality.

Cashmere

Cashmere, also known as "the gold of textiles," is an exquisite material cherished for its incredible comfort and softness. It is obtained from the fine undercoat of the cashmere goat and provides luxurious warmth and an unparalleled wearing experience.

Our cashmere goats live on a certified farm in Inner Mongolia. The goat herders adhere to a farm code of conduct that includes animal welfare. The goats roam freely in the wild at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, where the extreme cold of up to -40 degrees Celsius enables the growth of valuable undercoat. This is why cashmere farming is not feasible in Western countries.

In spring, during the molting season, the valuable undercoat of the goats is combed out to separate it from the less valuable guard hair. Only about 100 grams of wool are obtained per year and per animal.

Merino Wool

Merino wool is an exquisite fiber obtained from Merino sheep and appreciated for its exceptional softness, warmth, and fineness. It is an environmentally friendly fiber that is 100% natural and renewable. It consumes less energy and water than other fibers and does not contribute to pollution by microplastics in our oceans or on our land. Wool products have a long lifespan - they are used or worn longer than other textile fiber products.

At Prinz Berlin, we rely on high-quality Merino wool that is sustainably and ethically produced. Our accessories made from Merino wool combine luxury, comfort, and sustainability to provide you with a stylish and environmentally conscious wearing experience.

Straw

Straw is a versatile natural material derived from dried stems of cereal plants. These stems are harvested, bundled, and dried after the crop is harvested to obtain straw. It is a sustainable byproduct of agriculture and finds uses in various areas.

The high-quality raffia straw, originating from the leaves of the Raphia palm, is mainly found in Madagascar and other regions of Africa. The sturdy, flexible fibers are handcrafted into stylish hats that are lightweight and durable.

Mexican straw, on the other hand, is made from the dried leaves of the agave plant that thrives in Mexico. The robust, flexible straw is hand-woven, giving each hat a unique quality. Its natural golden color radiates warmth and elegance, making it perfect for summer.
